Peniel 2007 : Holy Spirit Revival Sweeps Across Nigeria

PENIEL 2007, whose theme was from "Glory to Glory" witnessed a land revival as the Holy Spirit came in full force and brought a wind of revival that impacted over 30,000 participants at the Revival Summit. The 2007 Revival Summit was unique in several ways. Firstly, theme centered on the Church being lifted from one level of glory to her level by the power of the Holy Spirit. Secondly, emphasis was on baptism in the Holy Spirit. Over 200 persons were baptized at one of the several occasions. Thirdly, during the night meetings spectacular healings were witnessed and campers refused to leave the altar from dusk to dawn. “It was incredible” commented a participants who witnessed men and women, boys and girls weeping out their soul at the altar till dawn everyday and ready to take more the following day. Over twenty unity choirs sponsored by their districts and areas featured, some with cultural colorations that glorified the God of all nations.
Earlier at the opening day, the Director of Corporate Ministries Rev Uche Ama spoke on the Ethos of the Conference and his theme was the Peniel Experience: A Biblical reflections. On Tuesday the 19th June, Rev Sam Mcjaphet opened with a devotional message on “Let the Fire Fall”. This was followed up by a message on Spiritual Rebirth by retired Rev Dr Franklin Ukomah. Throughout the Peniel the General Superintendent, Rev Dr Charles Ogbonnaya Osueke spoke on the Glory of Redemption, Glory of Sanctification, and the Glory of Abiding. The Asst. General Superintendent, Rev Dr Paul Emeka and the Principal of the Eastern Bible College, Ogoja Rev Dr Francis Njor completed the “Glory Series” on the “Glory of Anointing” and “Glory of Service” respectively.
After the Holy Convocation of the 3rd and 4th day, Rev Friday Amirah, the Warri District Superintendent and Professor Paul Ajah, the President of Nigeria Advanced School of Theology, Ewu spoke on “Just a Touch” and “Possess Your Possession” respectively. This was followed by Morning reflections on Spiritual Wholeness by Rev Ejikeme Ejim, Senior Pastor of Assemblies of God 111 Clegg Street, Surulere Lagos. The next day’s Spiritual reflection was by Rev Dr Robert Ebuade on the subject: Spiritual Consecration. Rev Dr Chidi Okoroafor, the District Superintendent of Umuahia District closed the meeting with Power from Above, which led to several persons filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Peniel 2007 which would have been aborted due to national strikes and severe fuel scarcity was one of the greatest gatherings of the Church in recent years. Since the end of Peniel 2007 several reports from all over the country indicate that the Holy Spirit is baptizing Men and Women afresh. It is expected that by 2009, when the Church will celebrate its 75th Anniversary, at least 75% of the Church membership would have experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit.
