Intercessory Prayer for our Nation: Nigeria

Where Is Your Confidence?

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.” (Psalm 20:7,8 KJV)

The topic for today's meditation is a question. An all-important question. A question for you to answer honestly today. Whenever you are faced with any type of situation, when the rough sea of life begins to rumble, when the waves toss you up and down, when there are serious decisions to be made in life, all these situations ask you this question. Your answer always determines your victory.

According to the Scripture, some people trust in chariots and horses. The New Living Translation of the Bible puts it this way.

“Some nations boast of their armies and weapons, but we boast in the Lord our God. Those nations will fall down and collapse, but we will rise up and stand firm.”

Indeed a lot of people today trust in what they think they have in their arsenals, which they think are capable of seeing them through the storms of life. Some people trust in their wealth, believing that they can always buy their way out of any situation in life. Some people trust in their physical strength, believing they can always fight their way through life. Some others trust in their own wisdom, believing that they can always outsmart every situation life brings their way. Some people trust in other people, who they believe are able to rescue them in every situation. Some also trust in idols and other false gods, believing that these can save them.

The Word of God has clearly stated the end of all those who put their confidence in things that cannot actually save them. The Bible says that they will fall down and collapse, they will be brought down. The foundations of their confidence are not firm and when the winds blow, when the rains come, when the floods rise, their confidence crumbles

The true child of God
will remember to trust in the name of the Lord.

However, the true child of God will remember to trust in the name of the Lord. The Bible says in Proverbs 18:10, that the name of the Lord is a strong tower. It is a strong tower that cannot be moved, cannot be shaken, cannot fall, and endures forever. The Child of God will remember to run into it, whenever he faces anything life offers, and the Bible declares him safe. The Child of God will be confident that the Lord will stretch out His loving hand in salvation, whenever he is in danger. Then because he put his trust in the Lord, he will rise up and stand firm in the face of these setbacks and troubles.

Dear Friend, This question confronts you today. Where is your confidence? Is it in your abilities, your contacts, your wealth? These alone cannot see you through life. There is only one that can see you through life and give you a victorious life and give you courage to face the challenges of today. He is Jesus and he is able. Put your trust in him today and he will see you through.

Dear friend, the first step is to enter into a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus Christ. If you would like to begin this relationship, then accept Jesus Christ into your life and your life truly will never remain the same again. God bless you.
