The Directorate of Corporate Planning is directly attached to the Office of the General Superintendent and is charged with the responsibility of articulating all programmes with the aim of providing a national focus for the actualization of the corporate goals of the National Church. The Directorate is headed by a Director, who oversees the day-to-day running of the Directorate. The
Rev. Uchechukwu Ama serves as the current Director of Corporate Planning.
The Directorate comprises of three departments, each with its own unique functions, which are:
Below is the Organizational Structure of the Directorate:
This department had existed since 1992 as a Unit in the Office of the General Superintendent. It had been responsible for the various activities of the Decade of Harvest since 1988, when it was formed as a Special Decade of Harvest Research Committee. It also managed the Adopt-A-People Program for three years towards the end of the Decade of Harvest (1998-2000).
Since 2001, it commenced a National Field Survey for proper delineation of the various People Groups in Nigeria. Massive field information has been gathered by several field volunteer research teams sponsored by their Districts and Areas. The information is being collected and processed.
International Relevance
The Director currently serves as the Research Director for the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance World Missions Commission as well as the Unreached People Co-Coordinator for the International Committee for Emerging Missions and Unreached Peoples of the Assemblies of God global family. This Unit is therefore very strategic in the furtherance of the gospel within Nigeria, Africa and the World.
Digital Database Maps
Apart from the Unreached People Survey, the Unit is building a digital database for the accessing of field information. It is acquiring a “Digital Map” of Nigeria having information on all the 774 Local Government Areas. It will help locate every town or community in Nigeria where our churches exist and the Unreached Peoples. Such massive digital resource base will accelerate, and provide catalytic effect on the progress of the AD2025 PLAN under the Adopt-A-People Program for the 21st Century. Other Adopt-A-People Resource Kits shall be produced.
In order to reposition the General Council and its functionaries and the Evangel House in particular as Center of Ministries to the national Church, the national leadership promoted the establishment of the Evangel Corporate Ministries with the responsibility of articulating the various programs and ministries that affect the life of the Church and provide an enhanced corporate image of the Church. During the Decade Of Harvest, the Information Unit existed along side the Research Department, because it provided Field Information and published same to the General Council constituency. However, the Unit under the Directorate has been expanded to include Information Technology. It is believed that there is a growing need for our Pastors and other Christian Workers within the national Church to be Computer and IT literate.
